Nineteen persons participated in the focus group phase of our study.  Each had completed our questionnaire and said they would "like to be part of a group discussion about your volunteering experience and reasons for volunteering?”  All focus group participants fit several criteria:

1) Each had volunteered within the last three years.

2) Each was age 35 or above.

3) Each had a bachelor's degree or higher educational attainment.  

4) Each had volunteered in advocacy, governance, educational, or coordinating/organizing positions within the last three years.

All focus group participants were asked seven questions.  Focus group data is not summarized here.  Instead, it arises throughout the rest of the report as novel data not gained through the questionnaire, data that supports the survey's findings, or data that contradicts the survey's findings.
