In the past 3 years,
would you describe your volunteer activities as occurring on a regular,
scheduled basis?
(n=226)

On a
whole, participants in our study responded that they have
volunteered on a “regular, scheduled basis” during the previous
three years. 82% of respondents answered in the affirmative.
This shows a strong preference among our entire sample for
having regularly scheduled volunteer positions.
There were
some differences among demographic subgroups.

Retirement Status

Retired volunteers are more likely
than non-retired volunteers to describe their service as
“occurring on a regular, scheduled basis,” though both groups
had high positive response rates to this question. A full 97%
of retired volunteers responded in the affirmative, and 70% of
non-retirees did the same.
Age

Respondents of all our sample’s
age groups are more likely than not to volunteer on a “regular,
scheduled basis.” All respondents ages 65-84 answered
that their volunteer work fits within this description, compared
to 71% of 35-44 year olds, 68% of 45-54 year olds, and 77% of
55-64 year olds.
Sex

Male
respondents were more likely than female respondents to describe
their service as “occurring on a regular, scheduled basis,”
though both groups had high positive response rates to this
question. 94% of men responded in the affirmative, and 76% of
women did the same.
