Most respondents to our survey prefer to volunteer between the hours of 8am and 2pm.  There were large differences between the different demographic subgroups of the sample.

79% of retired respondents said they prefer to volunteer between 8am and 2pm, and the percentage increases to 98% when 2pm-5pm is added.  Only 56% of non-retired respondents said the same.  31% of non-retired respondents said they prefer to volunteer between the three hour window of 5pm-8pm, the largest response among this group for any time slot.  (Note: Both retired and non-retired respondents preferred to volunteer on weekdays over weekends. [See Question 11])    
 

Age

There is a correlation between the age of respondents and which hours of the day they preferred to volunteer.  Over 50% of 35-44 year olds want to volunteer in the evening, after 5pm, whereas no one age 75-84 said the same and only 4% of 65-74 year old respondents agreed.  However, 78% of 75-84 year olds said they want to volunteer between 8am and 2pm.  Only 34% of 35-44 year olds said the same.
