Aging Your Way is Morphing!
Aging Your Way is morphing again! We are integrating our work with a larger Age Friendly initiative that is in the planning stages.
Last March at the American Society on Aging Conference, there were several sessions on the Age Friendly Cities movement, spearheaded by the World Health Organization (WHO) and their institutional partner, AARP, which promotes their sister program, Livable Communities.
Several key players in King County began researching these worldwide efforts, including a 2-day trip to Portland, OR in 2015. Representatives from Senior Services, City of Seattle, AARP, SHAG, ChangingAging.org, Horizon House and LeadingAge.org met with our counterparts in Portland to learn more.
Embarking on this minimum 5-year commitment requires an application filed by local elected officials. The resulting focused effort will support projects to make our community more age-friendly.
