One Missed Doctor Appointment Away from Insecurity

Getting a rideDid you know that more than half of non-drivers ages 65+ stay home in any given day because they don’t have transportation options? What do you do if you can’t get to the doctor, go grocery shopping, or visit friends and family?

Bettye Guillory, 99, of Federal Way understands this problem well. An active hairdresser until health problems forced her to quit working at age 89, Bettye struggled to save money for when “she got old.”  Taxis are too expensive to use on a regular basis, and with her level of mobility, public transportation is out of the question. Bettye found it impossible to get to the doctor or run errands without help.

Learn more about Bettye and the solution she found with Senior Services Transportation Program by visiting our One Away blog.
